Colin Biggers & Paisley, in partnership with Marrickville Legal Centre, is proud to host the Youth Legal Service telephone advice clinic.
The Youth Legal Service’s telephone advice line is often the first point of contact for young people in the community who need legal help. The advice line plays a critical role in providing access to justice for young people across NSW.
Helping vulnerable children and young people
The Youth Legal Service offers its services towards young people who – in addition to the vulnerabilities that are inherently associated with being young – also experience social and economic disadvantage because they may be:
- homeless or at risk of homelessness;
- a survivor of family violence;
- a young person living with a mental health problem or disability; and/or
- a young people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.
We would like to invite Sydney-based lawyers to join in and volunteer.
Volunteers for each advice line receive a brief for each client and will use the clinic as the opportunity to hold a telephone appointment to provide basic legal advice. We are asking for volunteers to join a roster (approx. one Monday evening a month) so that client appointments can be tailored to deliver the best possible service to young people.
If you would like to volunteer please send us a message or contact Karen Iles, Director of Pro Bono and Responsible Business, Colin Biggers & Paisley.
A training session for new volunteers will take place on:
3.30 – 5.00pm
Monday 13 August

We hope you can join us in making an impact.
