MELBOURNE OFFICE HOSTS LAUNCH OF LAW AND ADVOCACY CENTRE FOR WOMEN

July 15,2016
In line with the core strategy of the Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation, to promote and protect the rights of women and children, our legal practice was delighted to host the launch of the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women (LACW).

The LACW works with criminalised women to assist them in addressing the issues that have contributed to their involvement with the criminal justice system, as well as providing legal advice and representation.

Held on the 9th of June 2016 at Colin Biggers & Paisley's Melbourne office, the evening showcased a discussion on the implications of family violence for women who are in or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. Speakers included former Justice Betty King, Principal Legal Officer Jill Prior, and the Commissioner for Children and Young People, Liana Buchanan, who addressed a packed room of 90 attendees.
