CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION WITH OUR WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

January 24,2020

Today we celebrate and recognise the International Day of Education.

Education is a human right. It gives people the skills, knowledge and opportunities they need to break the cycle of poverty and build a future.

The Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation works to protect and promote the rights of children, particularly access to education. This week we welcomed Anna, a Year 11 student from Coonabarabran High School to our Work Experience Program. Coonabarabran is located in the Central West and North West Slopes of New South Wales, an area which is severely affected by the ongoing drought.

We met Anna in August last year when five of our lawyers visited Coonabarabran with UNSW's ASPIRE Program. During our visit, Anna showed an interest in a career in law. This week, Anna spent time with our partners including Megan BoweAmanda Ryding and Leanne Walker and some of our solicitors and paralegals to gain a better understanding of what it's like to work in a law firm and learn about the different areas of law.

Thank you to everyone in our Sydney office for making Anna feel so welcome and ensuring she had such a memorable week.  Anna will be heading straight into Year 12 on her return to Coonabarabran, and we wish her all the best in her final year.
