In August a team of people from Colin Biggers & Paisley, led by Managing Partner, Nick Crennan, Director of Pro Bono and Responsible Business, Karen Iles and the Arts Law Centre of Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Robyn Ayres will be traveling to Central Australia to trek more than 50 km of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Watarrka (Kings Canyon).
The team will be raising funds for Arts Law’s Artists in the Black program; an initiative that provides legal assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to enable them to protect their culture from breaches of copyright and earn an income from their art through commercial centres that are advantageous to them and their community.
Colin Biggers & Paisley has a strong relationship with Arts Law. We are passionate about protecting the legal and cultural rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and over the years we have contributed to Artists in the Black’s legal service through pro bono referrals, clinics and
secondments to regional art centres.
This year’s team of trekkers has committed to raising $50,000 for Artists in the Black, which will ultimately assist in securing the livelihood and cultural expression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
