THE COLIN BIGGERS & PAISLEY FOUNDATION AND COVID-19

April 02,2020
The COVID-19 outbreak is evolving daily. In line with the practice's response, the Colin Biggers & Paisley Foundation's priority is to ensure the protection of the health and safety of our people, their families and our clients.

This is a difficult time for everybody, especially for the most vulnerable people in the community and not for profit (NFP) organisations working to support them. The Foundation is looking at ways we can continue to assist communities in need and provide our people with ongoing opportunities to contribute during the lockdown period and beyond.

PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES

Pro Bono referrals relating to the COVID-19 crisis are increasing as social and economic impacts take effect.

The Foundation is part of the National Pro Bono and Responsible Business COVID-19 Taskforce which is focused on ensuring the continued provision of pro bono legal services to those in need across Australia.

Our lawyers are already providing assistance to our community partners and individuals through online and telephone legal advice rosters to ensure those in need are able to continue to access essential legal advice at this time.

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

The current social distancing protocols in Australia pose a real challenge for charities and not for profits in recruiting volunteers and raising much needed funds to continue their work.

The Foundation has alerted all community partners that events, meetings and volunteering opportunities are on hold until social distancing restrictions are lifted in line with the Australian Government's recommendations.

We are in contact with our community partners and other NFP organisations and are working on ways to support them remotely, including online volunteering activities.

Stay safe and well.
